In a major infrastructural shift for commuters along the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the construction of a new toll plaza at Pachgaon. Estimated to cost ₹18 crore, the 12-lane facility is expected to be completed in three to four months.
The new plaza, being built in the revenue estate of Kukdola village, is located around 13 km from the current Kherki Daula toll plaza and just 1 km from the KMP Expressway. Officials confirmed that land possession will be handed over by July 9, following a joint inspection by GMDA and NHAI. Construction will commence immediately after.
According to highway authorities, the Pachgaon toll plaza will feature a multi-lane free flow system which is a fully automated setup where tolls are collected via digital tags, eliminating the need for vehicles to halt. The complex will also house a traffic control center, an operations building, and staff amenities.
The relocation of the toll plaza to Pachgaon is expected to bring major relief to thousands of daily commuters, as it will make a 55-km stretch of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway completely toll-free. Currently, around 44,000 vehicles pass through the Kherki Daula toll every day. While the new Pachgaon toll is estimated to handle slightly fewer vehicles, about 40,000 daily which will eventually rise revenue as anticipated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This is largely due to an expected increase in the number of light commercial vehicles, which could push daily toll collections from ₹49 lakh to around ₹53 lakh.
Originally proposed in 2016 by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the relocation plan faced delays due to environmental concerns and land acquisition issues. After years of legal battles, the 30-acre site at Pachgaon was finally secured in 2023 by GMDA.
