Haryana's Proactive Measures: Waiver of Rural Water Bills and Inclusive Welfare Initiatives

Rural Water Bill Waiver Boosts 29 Lakh Households

In a significant move, the Haryana government has approved the waiver of water bills totalling Rs 372 crore for residents in rural areas. The decision, made during a cabinet meeting, is expected to benefit approximately 29 lakh households, ensuring they are billed for water only once a year.

Financial Support for Rural Watchmen

During the meeting, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar highlighted the government's decision to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 400 to over 6,000 rural watchmen in Haryana. Additionally, these watchmen will receive the stipend for sharing information related to any criminal activities in their respective areas. The government has also allocated a one-time amount of Rs 2 lakh upon their retirement.

Monthly Pension for Those Facing Serious Illnesses

Another welfare initiative announced is the monthly pension of Rs 3,000 for individuals in the state battling serious illnesses. Importantly, there will be no reduction in this pension, and families with an annual income below Rs 3 lakh will be eligible for this support.

Empowering Transport Inspectors for Effective Enforcement

In an effort to enhance transportation capabilities, the cabinet meeting granted approval to empower Transport Inspectors (TIs) under Rule 225 of the Haryana Motor Vehicle Rules 1993. This move aims to strengthen the enforcement abilities of TIs and address the shortage of staff in the Transport Department.

Approval for Eco-Tourism Policy

The cabinet approved the state's eco-tourism development policy, focusing on conserving rich biodiversity, environmental systems, heritage landmarks, and cultural diversities. This policy aims to promote natural tourism, boost local economies, and encourage sustainable use of indigenous resources.

Amendments in Wildlife Department Regulations

Changes in regulations associated with the Wildlife Department were also approved. The primary alteration involves removing the Chief Wildlife Warden position from the state regulations, incorporating it into the Indian Forest Service (IFS) cadre at the level of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF).

Revision in Backward Class-A Category

The cabinet meeting sanctioned modifications in the state list of Backward Class-A (BC-A). Six castes – Aheria, Aheri, Hari, Har, Turi, or Thori – have been excluded from the BC-A list. Additionally, the term "Jangam-Jogi" has been revised to "Jangam" in serial number 31.

Deepotsav Preparations for Temple Celebrations

Ahead of the Pran Pratishtha Diwas of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, preparations for celebrating Deepotsav in 3836 temples across Haryana have commenced. Temples have been adorned with sacred kalash since December 31, and distribution of these kalashes began on January 1. Temples will feature decorations, LED displays, and live broadcasts of Ayodhya celebrations on large screens.

Spreading Akshat and Ram Mandir Images to 60 Lakh Families

Aiming to reach 60 lakh families by January 15, the state plans to distribute Akshat, images of the Ram Mandir, and informative pamphlets. So far, 1846 processions have been organised in various locations across Haryana.

In summary, the cabinet meeting reflects Haryana's commitment to holistic welfare measures, rural empowerment, and sustainable policies for economic development.
