Sonipat's Major Ashish Dahiya to Receive Shaurya Chakra for Pulwama Counter-Terror Operations

Twin brother of an Army Major and son of a former Lance Naik leads successful operations against terrorists in Kashmir, continues family legacy of military service despite losing father at young age.

Major Ashish Dahiya come from a military family in Kakroi Village, Sonipat, Haryana. Major Ashish ‘s father the late Lance Naik, Ashok Dahiya served in the army before passing away from heart attack when Ashish was just six years old. Ashish 's twin brother Anish and sister-in-law Anusha also serve as Majors in the Indian Army continuing the families legacy of military service.

Major Ashish Dahiya completed his education from nursery to 12th standard at Shiva Shiksha Sadan. He actively participated in all extracurricular activities and passed his 12th standard in the year 2010-11.

The role of major Ashish Dahiya in counter terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir demonstrate his skills of exceptional leadership and courage. Since the year 2022, he has participated in five high risk operations successfully, neutralizing four hardened terrorists and disabling three improvised explosive devices. His most worthy and notable operation in June 2024 led to the elimination of one of the South Kashmir longest active A++ category terrorists.

During the Pulwama operation in June 2024, Major Dahiya showcased extraordinary courage by not only engaging in intense firefight with terrorist but also rescuing injured soldier despite heavy granite attacks. Major Dahiya 's quick thinking and tactical strategies lead to the success of the mission while ensuring minimal causalities to his team. He is going to be awarded Shaurya Chakra for his notable contributions in countering terrorists and leading successful operations in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The announcement of the Shaurya Chakra award has brought delight took Kakroi village with local leaders including Sarpanch Karambir Singh planning a grand welcome for their hero and pride of their village. Major Dahiya ‘s Uncle who himself a retired sub-Inspector Jagbir Singh shared how their mother Savita Dahiya encouraged both twins to pursue their dreams of serving the nation after their father's demise.
