In a dramatic midnight operation near Hansi, Haryana Police captured two criminals after an exchange of gunfire on the Hisar-Delhi highway. The operation, coming just hours after CM Saini's directive against criminals, resulted in the arrest of a murder suspect and his accomplice, with both sustaining leg injuries.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 AM when police teams, acting on intelligence, cornered two suspects in a parked car near a residential area. The situation escalated when the suspects opened fire instead of surrendering, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Sub-Inspector Ravi Kant narrowly escaped injury when a bullet struck his bulletproof vest.
Arrests and Recoveries
The arrested individuals were identified as Ajay (alias Aman) from Bhaini Amirpur, wanted for a January 4 murder, and his associate Rahul from Petwar village. Police recovered illegal weapons including a pistol, a country-made firearm, and ammunition from their possession. Both suspects were initially treated at Hansi Civil Hospital before being transferred to Hisar for further medical care.
Response to CM's Directive
The successful operation came immediately after Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's announcement giving police a "free hand" to tackle criminal elements. Hansi SP Hemendra Kumar Meena confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspects have connections to larger criminal networks or gangsters.
