Eight major cities in Haryana are preparing for municipal corporation elections in early 2025. The most notable change is in Rohtak, former CM Hooda's stronghold, where the mayor's position has been reserved for SC candidates. Similarly, Gurugram's mayoral seat has been reserved for BC(A) category, while Faridabad and Yamunanagar will have women mayors, with the latter specifically reserved for SC women.

First International Airport Takes Shape

The state's first integrated airport in Hisar, named after Maharaja Agrasen, is nearing completion. The facility will connect Haryana with five states through direct flights to Chandigarh, Ayodhya, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Jammu. Alliance Air Aviation Limited has signed an agreement to operate these routes, marking a significant milestone in the state's aviation history.

Education Sector Reforms

February 2025 will witness the implementation of the new education policy across Haryana. Education Minister Mahipal has announced comprehensive reforms, including an increase in the number of schools and enhanced focus on educational expansion. The policy aims to modernize the state's education system and improve learning outcomes.

Employment Opportunities Through Reformed CET

The Common Eligibility Test (CET) system is getting a major overhaul. A one-time registration system will be introduced, allowing candidates who have passed 10th grade to register once and simply update their qualifications as they progress. The Haryana Staff Selection Commission is finalizing preparations for the February examination.

Real Estate Market Changes

Property prices are expected to rise as the government has approved a 20% increase in External Development Charges (EDC) for 2025, followed by annual 10% increases from 2026. This decision will particularly impact real estate development in Gurugram and other major cities, affecting both developers and end-users.

Congress Party Reorganization

After a decade of functioning without a proper organizational structure, the Haryana Congress is set to receive a new executive body. The announcement is expected in mid-January, potentially ending the long-standing leadership vacuum in the state unit.

Employee Benefits Enhancement

State government employees will receive increased death-cum-retirement gratuity benefits from January 1, 2025. The maximum limit has been raised from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh, representing a 25% increase in benefits for government servants.

Seismic Alert and Safety Measures

Thirteen districts in Haryana fall under the high damage risk zone for earthquakes. The administration has issued alerts for early January, particularly for districts including Gurugram, Faridabad, Rewari, Jhajjar, and Rohtak, emphasizing the need for earthquake preparedness.
