MP Kumari Selja has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw requesting the extension of the Kalindi Express from its current Prayagraj-Bhiwani route to include Sirsa. This extension would provide direct access for thousands of devotees planning to attend the Mahakumbh, scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, at Prayagraj.

Beyond the Mahakumbh requirements, Selja has proposed additional rail improvements for the region, including a new intercity train connecting New Delhi to Sirsa via Meham, Rohtak, Hansi, and Hisar. She also suggested extending the Jodhpur-Hisar train service to reach Sirsa, addressing the constituency's growing transportation needs.

Bad Conditions of Public Spaces

In a separate initiative, Selja has highlighted the deteriorating condition of Sirsa's public spaces. She brought to Chief Minister Nayab Saini's attention the urgent need for maintaining Town Park, Bhadra Park, and local green belts. The former Union Minister pointed out that expensive installations, such as the musical fountains in Town Park, have become non-functional due to neglect.

Confusion in park Management

A key issue raised by Selja is the current confusion over park maintenance responsibilities between HUDA and the Sirsa Municipal Council. She emphasized that this lack of clear accountability has led to the spaces becoming unusable for morning walkers and, in some cases, being misused by drug addicts. Her letter calls for specific departmental responsibility assignment and dedicated renovation funding.
