Home Minister Anil Vij addressed a press conference on Thursday to discuss the prevailing law and order situation. He emphasized his commitment to addressing the concerns of the public, stating that continuous action is being taken against crime. Minister Vij expressed the need to combat fraud in the context of sending people abroad, asserting that laws for travel agencies and agents are in progress.   

In response to a query, Minister Vij affirmed that the state government is dedicated to safeguarding people's hard-earned money from falling into the hands of fraudulent agents. He explained that this commitment has led to the introduction of a bill. Minister Vij provided insight into the previous efforts of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed three years ago, revealing that it registered a total of 383 fraud cases, resulting in the arrest of 153 individuals.

Highlighting recent developments, Anil Vij shared that from April 17 to December 12 of the current year, a total of 625 fraud cases have been registered, leading to the apprehension of 509 accused and recovering more than Rs 2 crore. Minister Anil Vij emphasized the forthcoming Act, titled ‘The Haryana Registration and Regulation of the Travel Agencies Bill, 2023,’ stating that it will include various provisions aimed at curbing illegal immigration. The government's proactive measures underscore its commitment to addressing the challenges posed by fraudulent activities in the domain of travel agencies.

A draft of the Travel Agency Act has been prepared and is expected to be passed in the coming Winter legislative session starting 15 December. Minister Vij underscored the importance of this law against pigeon betting, indicating that rules will be established after the Act's approval. He addressed the issue of illegal practices in sending people abroad, urging citizens to choose legal channels. To facilitate this, a toll-free helpline number 805303400 has been issued for assistance. Minister Vij assured that laws are being crafted to prevent individuals from falling victim to scams, highlighting the arrest of 509 people in a short period and emphasizing that those who exploit others will face consequences.
