The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, Incharge of Uttarakhand, and Congress MP from Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency, Kumari Selja criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for insulting Baba Saheb Ambedkar by making comments about him in the Parliament.
Kumari Selja stated that the Constitution is no less than a holy scripture, and Babasaheb is no less than God for the people of India. Therefore, Home Minister Amit Shah must apologize to the entire nation. Selja strongly criticised the constant habit of BJP to disrespect and make controversial comments regarding respectable figures. The BJP uses the name of Babasaheb during elections for political gains but insults him in the House.
MP Kumari Selja said that by making such comments in the House, Amit Shah has insulted Babasaheb in front of the entire world. We demand that the Union Home Minister apologizes to the whole nation. Congress Leader stated that "we cannot tolerate such an insult to Babasaheb, He is no less than God".
After Amit Shah's remarks about Babasaheb, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, MP Priyanka Gandhi, Congress National Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, and many MPs from the INDIA Alliance expressed their outrage against the BJP in the Parliament premises.
Congress MPs said that they would not tolerate any insult to Babasaheb under any circumstances. The MPs also raised slogans as a mark of protest.
