Haryana Set to Carve Out Four New Districts After Local Body Elections

Haryana government forms a four-member committee to explore creating new districts in the state. The panel, led by Cabinet Minister Krishna Lal Panwar, will submit its report in two months, potentially announcing new administrative divisions by March.

The Haryana government has initiated a major administrative process of creating four new districts in the state. The decision to create new districts comes in the wake of local body elections and growing demand of separate districts or administrative units from various regions.

Committee Formation and Composition 

A four-member committee has been formed on December 4th to thoroughly examine the potential for new districts, subdivisions, tehsils, and sub-tehsils. Cabinet Minister Krishna Lal Panwar is the chairperson of the committee which also includes other important ministers - Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana and Revenue Minister Vipul Goyal. 

Long-Pending Demands 

The demand for separate administrative units is long due, several regions have been persistently advocating for district status. The regions include Hansi in Hisar, Dabwali in Sirsa, Assandh in Karnal, Gohana in Sonipat, Manesar in Gurugram.

Haryana 's Administrative Restructuring

Haryana has a history of creating new administrative units. In December of last year, six new sub-divisions were established, including Manesar, Neelokhari, Israna, Chhacharauli, Nangal Chaudhary, and Julana. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has previously created 15 sub-divisions and 10 new tehsils during its tenure. 

Future Political Changes

The administrative changes in the state are not limited to district formations. By 2029, Haryana's political representation is expected to undergo a significant transformation as State Assembly seats will increase from 90 to 126 and Lok Sabha seats might Expand from 10 to 14. 

Through this expansion Haryana is positioning itself as a more politically influential state, with increased representation at both state and national levels.
