Haryana Government has announced a monthly pension of ₹3000 for patients with chronic diseases like thalassemia and haemophilia. The decision taken by Haryana Government aims to provide substantial financial relief to individual with chronic diseases. This significant healthcare support will benefit around 2000 individual across the state.
Eligibility and key conditions
The pension scheme will be provided to individuals who fulfil the following criteria :
- The patient should be 18 years or older
- The beneficiary must be an original Haryana resident
- The family income of the individual should not exceed 3 lakh rupees
- Minimum three years of continuous residence in Haryana.
This initiative initially came into picture during a cabinet meeting held in January, under former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Antyodaya Department and Dr G Anupama the additional Chief Secretary of Social Justice, Empowerment, SC/BC Welfare has now issued a formal notification amending the Haryana Disability Pension Rules, 2016.
Currently, state-level data reveals that there are 1300 thalassemia and 783 hemophilia patients in the state. The total beneficiary count will be 2083. The estimated annual pension outlay will be around ₹7.5crore.
This pension scheme will act as a lifeline for the patients with such chronic diseases. The government will provide direct financial support and aims to elevate the economic burden faced by the families of such individuals and improve their quality of life.
