
The Haryana government has launched a landmark policy in collaboration with the Road Transport and Highways Ministry. This innovative scheme promises immediate and comprehensive medical support for road accident victims. This initiative represents a significant step towards addressing road safety and healthcare challenges in the state.
Seamless Medical Treatment Process
The new initiative offers a lifeline to accident victims with cashless medical support and completely free medical treatment with coverage up to 1.5 lakh rupees. The treatment duration will be up to seven days.
The process is pretty simple. After the accident victim is brought to the hospital, the medical staff has to provide the patient's details to the local police station. The nearest police station will verify the status of the accident within six hours avoiding any kind of financial burden on the victim or his family.
Impressive Road Safety Achievements
The Accident Statistics as shared by Police Director General Shatrujeet Kapoor highlights the state's progress in road safety:
- 616 fewer road accidents in 2024
- 251 reduction in fatal accidents
- 403 fewer individuals injured compared to 2023
Comprehensive Awareness and Enforcement Strategies
Haryana Police have implemented extensive road safety measures by conducting 2,166 road safety awareness campaigns and engaging 291,307 children and adults in safety programs. Along with this Haryana police have launched six special drives targeting lane discipline and vehicle regulations. Police have been stricter and issued 27,321 challans, including 2,600 for vehicles with illegal black films.
