Senior farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's indefinite hunger strike has entered its 18th day, drawing political and judicial attention. The bench of Supreme Court has issued directives to ensure the safety and well-being of the protesting farmers and urged to provide medical aid to Dallewal.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi arrived at the Khanauri border today to express their support with Dallewal and the ongoing farmers' protest. Their presence marks an important moment of political support for the farmers'cause.
Farmer leader Jagdip Ghanghas who represents the Haryana Jaglan Khap stated that if Rahul Gandhi is a supporter of Farmers then Rahul Gandhi should stand firmly with the farmers and meet Dallewal. "If Rahul Gandhi truly supports farmers, he must immediately come and meet Dallewal," Ghanghas stated. He further stated that Dallewal is a true farmer Leader , he will keep on protesting until the farmers's demands are met.
On Friday, Supreme Court ordered Punjab and central governments to provide immediate medical aid to Dallewal and ensure he is not forced to continue his hunger strike. "Dallewal's life is more important than the ongoing farmers' movement," the court stated and suggested peaceful resolution between the parties and prohibiting any use of forceon the leaders.
Showcasing his courage and dedication towards the cause, Dallewal declared that he will continue his hunger strike until the demands of the farmers are fully met by the Central Government. The protest has gained a lot of attention, highlighting the impact of the protest and ongoing challenges faced by farmers in India.
A strict warning has been issued by Ambala SP that farmers will not be allowed to proceed without proper permission from the authorities. Citing Dallewal 's critical health condition, a petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking to end Dallewal's hunger strike.
