In a remarkable display of political solidarity, all parties in Haryana have united over the issue of constructing a new Vidhan Sabha complex in Chandigarh. During the final day of the Haryana Assembly session, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that this matter transcends political boundaries and requires a unified response from all parties.

Water Rights and Territory Disputes Take Center Stage

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda strongly advocated that Haryana should maintain its rights over Chandigarh while addressing water sharing through the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. Congress leader Ashok Arora highlighted that Chandigarh remains a joint capital until Punjab transfers 107 Hindi-speaking villages from Abhohar and Fazilka regions to Haryana.

Opposition Pledges Full Support

The opposition parties have thrown their complete support behind the government's stance. They emphasized the importance of presenting a united front on this issue, particularly given the upcoming 2026 delimitation exercise that necessitates increased seating capacity in the Assembly.

Future Plans and All-Party Meeting

Speaker Harvinder Kalyan announced that an all-party meeting would be convened to discuss these crucial matters comprehensively. The Chief Minister assured that the government would act according to the unanimous decisions reached during this meeting, emphasizing the importance of sending a strong message about Haryana's unity on this issue.
