The Haryana government has announced a significant expansion of its rural housing initiative, bringing hope to thousands of families dreaming of owning a permanent home. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) has set an ambitious target for 2024-25, marking a tenfold increase from the previous year's achievements.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Monthly income must not exceed Rs 15,000
  • No income tax payment history
  • Agricultural land ownership limited to 2 acres (fertile) or 5 acres (barren)
  • No government employees in family
  • No registered business firms
  • No ownership of tractors or three/four-wheeler vehicles

The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 1.38 lakh per household, distributed in three installments. Survey teams will soon visit villages to identify eligible beneficiaries. Importantly, those who have already constructed houses after the 2017-18 portal registration will not be eligible for new benefits.

"This expansion reflects our commitment to providing housing for all," stated a senior government official. "The significant increase in target beneficiaries shows our dedication to improving rural housing conditions."
