In a significant administrative meeting held at the Karnal District Secretariat, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan outlined ambitious plans for the state's legislative infrastructure while addressing pressing administrative concerns. The meeting, attended by key district officials and local MLAs, marked a pivotal moment in Haryana's administrative landscape.

New Assembly Building Takes Center Stage

The highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a new, state-of-the-art assembly building. "The current assembly building lacks adequate space for committees and modern facilities," Kalyan explained. The proposed structure will be completely paperless and technology-driven, with land requisition already in process from the UT administration. The project has been designated as a priority initiative for the state government.

Administrative Accountability and COVID Recovery

Addressing concerns about officer performance, Kalyan took a firm stance on administrative accountability. "Negligence at any level will not be tolerated," he stated, responding to queries about recent statements by CM Nayab Singh regarding strict action against careless officers. The Speaker also outlined plans to accelerate development projects that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Future Electoral Landscape

Looking ahead to 2029, Kalyan discussed the upcoming delimitation process, which will increase both Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Haryana. This expansion necessitates the new assembly building to accommodate future requirements and ensure smooth legislative functioning.

Environmental Concerns and Crop Residue

The Speaker also addressed environmental issues, particularly regarding crop residue burning. "Environmental protection is everyone's responsibility as it affects both current and future generations," he emphasized, calling for collective action to address pollution concerns.

The meeting was attended by notable figures including MLAs Yogendra Rana from Assandh constituency and Ram Kumar Kashyap from Indri, along with the Deputy Commissioner and other administrative officials.
