Haryana Assembly Leadership: Engineer Kalyan and Doctor Middha Take Top Posts

From Professional Careers to Political Leadership 

The Haryana Assembly's new leadership brings a blend of professional expertise and political experience. Harvinder Kalyan, a civil engineering graduate who started his political journey with BSP in 2009, has scored a remarkable hat-trick from Gharaunda constituency since 2014. His counterpart, Deputy Speaker Krishan Middha, a BAMS doctor, carries forward his family's political legacy from Jind, following in the footsteps of his father, Hari Chand Middha, a two-time INLD MLA. 

Strategic Regional and Community Balance 

The BJP's choice of leadership reflects careful consideration of regional and community representation. Kalyan, from the OBC Ror community, represents the crucial GT Road belt, where his community has significant presence across Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, and Kaithal districts. Middha's appointment strengthens Punjabi community representation, which now has eight MLAs in the assembly.

Dramatic Moments in the House

The election session wasn't without drama, as senior minister Anil Vij and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda engaged in a verbal exchange. The tension arose when Vij referred to Hooda's 2009-2014 tenure as a "black period" in Haryana's legislative history, leading to sharp reactions from the opposition. 

New Administrative Structure

The assembly's administrative framework has been further strengthened with the appointment of Ram Kumar Kashyap, a two-time Indri MLA and former Rajya Sabha member, as the chief whip. The unanimous election of both Speaker and Deputy Speaker signals a strong start for the 15th Vidhan Sabha's functioning.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini proposed Kalyan's name, while Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar and Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora proposed and seconded Middha's nomination, demonstrating united party support for both leaders.
