The Haryana Story brings you an eye-opening report on the unemployment situation in Haryana, as revealed by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The startling details paint a grim picture of the job market in the state, raising concerns about the future of Haryana's youth.

Graduates Desperate for Any Job

Hooda dropped a bombshell by revealing that thousands of highly educated youth are applying for temporary sweeper positions in the Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. According to government data cited by Hooda:

  • 39,990 graduates and 6,112 postgraduates have applied for sweeper jobs
  • 1,17,144 candidates who have completed class 12 are also in the running
  • A total of 3.95 lakh youth are competing for these positions

This isn't an isolated incident. Hooda pointed out a similar situation in Panipat, where 10,000 youth, including those with BA, MA, MPhil, PhD, BTech, and MTech degrees, applied for just six peon positions in the local court.

The desperation for government jobs is further illustrated by these staggering numbers:

  • 18 lakh unemployed youth applied for 18,000 Group-D vacancies
  • 25 lakh candidates  applied for 6,000 clerk positions

From Employment Leader to Unemployment Champion

Hooda didn't mince words when comparing the current situation to his tenure as Chief Minister. He stated, "Haryana, which was providing the most employment in the country during the Congress government, had been made the number one in unemployment by the BJP."

To back his claim, Hooda cited multiple sources:

  • CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy) data
  • NSO (National Statistical Office) figures
  • Central Government's own admission in Parliament

According to Hooda, the Central Government revealed that unemployment in Haryana has tripled under BJP rule. The unemployment rate jumped from 2.9% in 2013-14 (during Congress rule) to 9% under the current BJP government.

Brain Drain and Investment Drought

The former CM painted a bleak picture of Haryana's economic landscape:

1. Over two lakh government posts are lying vacant, with no efforts to fill them

2. Private investment in the state has come to a standstill

3. Haryana has lost its status as the top state for per capita investment

Perhaps most alarmingly, Hooda highlighted a growing trend of youth leaving the state or even the country in search of better opportunities. He noted a shift in the local landscape: "During the Congress government, coaching centers used to open in every street and locality for preparing for jobs, but today immigration offices are opening in every street."
