Olympic bronze medalist Manu Bhaker received a hero's welcome as she returned to her hometown Jhajjar in Haryana. The star shooter, who won two medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, was greeted by family, fans, and district administration officials upon her arrival.
Manu's homecoming began with a visit to the Gokuldhaam Gaushala on the Jhajjar-Gurugram road. She was accompanied by her parents, Sumedha and Ram Kishan. District Deputy Commissioner Captain Shakti Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Saloni Sharma led the welcoming committee, presenting Manu with a bouquet of flowers.
During her interaction with the media, Manu clarified her stance on several rumors that had been circulating. She firmly put to rest speculation about entering Bollywood, stating, "I love my sport very much, and in the future, I might do some coaching as well." This statement reflects her dedication to shooting and her desire to contribute to the sport even beyond her competitive career.
When asked about marriage plans, Manu shyly responded that she hasn't thought about it yet. "Whatever God has in store for me will happen," she said, indicating her focus is currently elsewhere.
Addressing her performance at the Paris Olympics, where she won a bronze medal, Manu expressed that while everyone aims for gold, the bronze will motivate her to strive for gold in future competitions. She announced her plans to take a three-month break from the sport before participating in competitions five months from now.
Manu took the opportunity to express gratitude to everyone who has supported her journey. "I've received support from my village, my parents, and every person in the country to reach this point," she said, acknowledging the collective effort behind her success.
As part of her visit to the Gokuldhaam Gaushala, Manu and her family fed jaggery and fodder to the Kamdhenu cow, participated in a prayer ceremony, and received blessings. The institution gifted her desi ghee, wishing for her continued good health.
Deputy Commissioner Shakti Singh expressed pride in Manu's achievements, saying, "We're delighted that Manu has won not one, but two medals for the country." He also mentioned Aman Sehrawat, another medalist from the district, stating that both athletes have brought glory to India on the world stage.
Manu's return and her statements provide clarity on her future plans. Her commitment to the sport and her desire to win more medals for India showcase the dedication that has brought her success. As she takes a short break to recharge, fans and supporters in Haryana and across India will be eagerly awaiting her return to competition.
