The death of young basketball player Aman from Bahadurgarh has brought the district administration of Jhajjar into action for improving the sports facilities in the region. A major announcement has come from the district administration about renovating the stadiums in the district, including the 17 Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadiums.
District officials said the move aims to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and to provide safer, better-equipped facilities for sportspersons. Under the plan, key stadiums in Bahadurgarh — Shaheed Brigadier Hoshiar Singh Stadium and Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium — along with Maharshi Dayanand Stadium in Jhajjar, will be upgraded with modern amenities.
Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Ravindra Patil said the maintenance of stadium infrastructure would be carried out through the CSIR framework, while the Sports Department would fund the procurement of new sports equipment. Dilapidated facilities will be repaired, and new basketball and volleyball courts will be constructed to meet standard safety norms. The administration is also working on creating a dedicated system for regular upkeep and monitoring of sports facilities.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Aman’s death is still underway. An FIR has been registered at the Bahadurgarh City Police Station, and a probe committee headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been constituted. Officials said further action would be taken once the committee submits its report.
The move has been welcomed as a long-overdue measure towards improving sporting infrastructure at the grassroots level as well as improving sporting safety. Even as the death of a young sportsperson has shocked the sporting community, it is hoped that the change will bring about a safer sporting environment for young sportspersons at the grassroots level in the district of Jhajjar.
