Former Haryana Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, met and felicitated Olympic medalist wrestler Aman Sehrawat. During the interaction, Hooda promised that if the Congress party comes to power in the state, they will revive the 'Get Medal, Get Post' policy for athletes.

Hooda stated that the Congress government had implemented this policy earlier, which allowed athletes to be appointed to senior positions such as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) after winning medals. However, he claimed that the current BJP government had discontinued this policy as soon as they came to power.

Additionally, Hooda assured that the Congress party will implement a 3% quota in government jobs for athletes and appoint them to higher positions. He criticized the BJP government for allegedly discriminating against athletes and not promoting those who were appointed as DSPs during the Congress regime.

Hooda highlighted that the Congress government had provided cash prizes of up to Rs 5 crore for athletes, which was a first in the country. He promised to reinstate these progressive policies for the sports community if the Congress party is elected in the upcoming state assembly elections.

The meeting and Hooda's commitments come at a time when the state government's policies towards sports and athletes have come under scrutiny. The former Chief Minister's pledge to prioritize the welfare of athletes could be a significant factor in the upcoming elections.
