The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a united front of 40 farmer unions, has announced the relaunch of its farmers' agitation to pressure the Centre to fulfill its long-pending demands. The decision comes after a crucial meeting of the SKM's executive committee, which had previously forced the Centre to repeal three controversial farm bills. The SKM will present an updated demand charter to all MPs, urging them to pressurize the government to take immediate action.

The farmers' body demands legally guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) at C2+50% with guaranteed procurement for all crops, comprehensive loan waivers, and the exclusion of multinational corporations from agricultural production and trade. The SKM will observe "Corporates Quit India Day" on August 9, marking the anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement, with nationwide protests.

State coordination committees will tailor the form of these campaigns, including seminars on water crisis, climate change, and the commodification of natural resources. The SKM will also meet the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and Punjab ministers to hand over the memorandum of demands. The farmers' agitation will continue until the Centre fulfills its promises, ensuring the welfare of the farming community.
