In a shocking incident that has rocked Hisar district, a young couple's love story came to a tragic end when they were gunned down in broad daylight. Tejvir Singh, 28, and his wife Meena, 25, were shot dead in Lala Hukamchand Jain Park near the railway station in Hansi town on Monday morning.

The couple, who had married just two months ago, had faced opposition from Meena's family. They had been living in Noida, where Tejvir worked, but had recently come to visit his family in Badala village.

According to eyewitnesses, the killers spoke to the couple before shooting them at close range. This has led the police to suspect that this was not a random act of violence, but a planned attack.Tejvir's cousin, Ajay, told reporters that Tejvir had received a call asking him to come to Hansi to sort out family differences. "He was about to go back to Noida for work, so he took Meena with him," Ajay explained.

The police believe this might be a case of honor killing. A police officer said, "It seems the girl's family felt their honor was hurt when their daughter married someone they didn't approve of."

The couple's story began when they met at a relative's house in Sisay village. Both were graduates and fell in love. However, Meena's family was against their relationship from the start. After their marriage, the couple had to stay in a government safe house for three days before moving to Noida. They had been avoiding visiting Meena's family, fearing for their safety.

Tejvir's father, Mehtab Singh, has filed a police complaint naming 11 people, including Meena's father, brother, uncle, and other relatives. The police have filed charges including murder and criminal conspiracy. Hansi Superintendent of Police Maqsood Ahmad said, "We've taken some people in for questioning. The main accused are on the run, but we'll arrest them soon."

This tragic incident has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of honor killings in parts of India. Despite laws against it, some families still resort to violence when they feel their 'honor' has been challenged by their children's choices. As the police continue their investigation and search for the accused, the community is left to grapple with the loss of two young lives cut short by outdated notions of family honor.
