Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP government, predicting its imminent defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking at workers' meetings in Jind and Kaithal, Hooda outlined the Congress party's vision for Haryana and urged party workers to mobilize support across the state.
Congress's Promises and BJP's Alleged Failures
Hooda announced a series of ambitious promises that the Congress plans to implement if voted to power. These include:
- Increasing old-age pension to Rs 6,000.
- Providing 300 units of free electricity to combat inflation.
- Offering gas cylinders at Rs 500.
- Ensuring clean, merit-based recruitment to address unemployment.
- Distributing free 100-yard plots and two-room houses to poor, SC, and OBC families.
- Raising the creamy layer limit from Rs 8-10 lakh to extend reservation benefits to more backward class members.
The Congress leader accused the BJP of pushing Haryana's youth into "unemployment and recruitment scams," contrasting this with his party's promise of fair and transparent hiring processes.
Jind's Political Significance and Electoral Prospects
Hooda expressed confidence in the Congress's electoral prospects, particularly in Jind district. He highlighted the party's recent success in the Lok Sabha elections, where Congress candidates won in all three parliamentary constituencies that include parts of Jind district - Sonepat, Hisar, and Sirsa.
"Jind had created political waves in the past as well. This time, it has shown which way the wind is blowing," Hooda remarked, emphasizing the district's historical importance in shaping Haryana's political landscape.
Rallying the Troops: Hooda's Message to Party Workers
In both Jind and Kaithal, Hooda stressed the importance of grassroots campaigning. He urged party workers to:
- Reach out to all communities.
- Expose the failures of the ruling BJP government.
- Highlight the Congress party's promises and past achievements.
State Congress President Udai Bhan, who accompanied Hooda in Kaithal, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need to "expose the BJP on various fronts."
As Haryana gears up for its Assembly elections, Hooda's aggressive campaigning and the Congress's bold promises set the stage for an intense political battle. The coming months will likely see increased activity from all parties as they vie for the support of Haryana's voters.
