
Parmeshwari Devi, mother of former Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu, was given her final send-off on Saturday in her ancestral village Khanda Khedi in Hisar district. She passed away on Friday at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness.
The cremation ceremony saw attendance from prominent political and spiritual leaders. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Pravesh Sahib Verma personally helped carry the coffin alongside Captain Abhimanyu. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, former BJP state president Om Prakash Dhankar, and Minister Krishna Bedi were among those who paid their respects.
Parmeshwari Devi has three daughters and six sons. Rudrasen, Virasen, Vratpal, Captain Abhimanyu, Major Satpal, and Dev Suman are among her sons. Daya, Bimla, and Madhu are her daughters. Earlier, her husband, Mitrasen, had died.
The family had a strong commitment to social service and Arya Samaj activities. After Mitrasen's passing, Parmeshwari Devi carried on his social work. Mitrasen was a well-known Arya Samaj leader.
"My mother was my first teacher, guide, and strength," Captain Abhimanyu said in an emotional speech during the ceremony. Her discipline, sacrifice, and love served as the cornerstones of who I am now. There are no adequate words to express her loss.
She was hailed by Baba Ramdev as "a devoted mother who inspired patriotism, service, and sacrifice." Her death was described by Deputy Speaker Krishna Midha as "an irreparable loss to society," while Minister Krishna Bedi highlighted how her values shaped Captain Abhimanyu's character and public service.
