Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and former Chief Minister of Haryana, has called for a crucial meeting on June 10 to discuss the dissolution of the state Assembly. Hooda has accused the BJP-led government of losing the public's trust and called for the resignation of the Saini government.

In a bold move, Hooda has urged the Governor to dissolve the Assembly and initiate fresh elections, stating that the BJP government is already a minority in the Haryana Assembly. This move comes in the wake of the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, where the Congress party secured a significant victory, winning five out of the ten parliamentary seats in the state.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Delhi, Hooda was joined by the state Congress president, Udai Bhan, and four newly elected Members of Parliament – Deepender Hooda, Jai Prakash, Varun Chaudhry, and Satpal Brahmachari. During the press conference, Hooda expressed his gratitude towards the voters of Haryana, highlighting the substantial increase in the Congress' vote share from approximately 28 percent in the 2019 elections to almost 48 percent in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Hooda emphasized that while the Congress did not secure any Lok Sabha seats in 2019, the party has now won five out of ten, leading in 46 Assembly constituencies. He asserted that these results indicate a strong public mandate for the Congress to form the next government in Haryana.

"The people of Haryana have voted not for caste or creed, but for progress and development," Hooda said, criticizing the BJP for attempting to divide society along caste and religious lines. He claimed that the electorate prioritized employment, development, and education over divisive politics.

The former Chief Minister praised the Congress for presenting strong candidates who campaigned vigorously, resulting in the highest vote percentage for the party in Haryana compared to the INDIA bloc across the country. Slamming the BJP for failing to deliver on its promises, Hooda criticized the ruling party for not keeping its word to double farmers' income by 2022. Instead, he pointed out that input costs have doubled, further burdening the agricultural community.

Hooda's call for dissolving the Haryana Assembly and initiating fresh elections comes at a crucial juncture, as the state gears up for the Assembly polls later this year. The Congress party's impressive performance in the Lok Sabha elections has provided them with a strong momentum, and Hooda's demands reflect the party's confidence in securing a mandate from the people of Haryana.

As the political landscape in Haryana continues to evolve, the upcoming CLP meeting on June 10 is expected to be a pivotal event, where the Congress party will discuss its strategy and outline its plan of action. With Hooda at the helm, the party seems determined to capitalize on its recent electoral success and present a united front against the BJP government, which it accuses of failing to deliver on its promises and losing the public's trust.
