The 2024 Lok Sabha elections witnessed Deepender Singh Hooda's commanding performance as he garnered an impressive 7,83,578 votes out of the total 12,48,446 votes polled. His resounding victory over the BJP's Dr. Arvind Sharma, who secured 4,38,280 votes, sent shockwaves across the political landscape. Significantly, Hooda triumphed in all nine assembly segments of the Rohtak parliamentary constituency, a win that underscores his widespread appeal and connect with the electorate. 

A Political Dynasty's Legacy 

Deepender Singh Hooda's victory is not merely a personal achievement; it is a testament to the enduring legacy of his political dynasty. As the fourth generation of his family to venture into public service, Hooda carries the mantle of a rich heritage. His father, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, served as the Chief Minister of Haryana for two terms, while his grandfather, Ranbir Singh Hooda, was a freedom fighter, a member of the Constituent Assembly, and a former Member of Parliament from Rohtak. His great-grandfather, Choudhary Matu Ram, was a social reformer and a freedom fighter who worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi. 

From Corporate to Public Service

Before embarking on his political journey, Deepender Singh Hooda carved out a successful corporate career. He worked with renowned companies like Reliance Industries Ltd., Infosys Technologies Ltd., and American Airlines/Sabre Holdings in various capacities, including as a software engineer and senior manager. However, the call to public service proved irresistible, and in 2005, at the age of 27, Hooda took the plunge into politics, winning the Lok Sabha by-election from Rohtak.

Deepender Singh Hooda's accomplishments extend beyond the political arena. He has been recognized for his contributions and leadership abilities by esteemed institutions. In 2011, he was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and in 2010, he received the Bharat Asmita Jana Pratinidhi Shreshta award for his work towards rural development through education and power generation. Additionally, he was honoured with the Shresth Sansad Award in 2019, cementing his reputation as a dedicated and effective parliamentarian.
