Ahead of the Lok Sabha election results in Haryana, the Congress party has prepared an internal report estimating it will win 8 seats and lose 2 seats.
Congress Internal Report Claims Victory in 4 Seats
The Congress internal report claims the party is likely to win the Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonipat and Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seats. In Rohtak, opposition from Jat and farmer communities has hurt the BJP. In Sirsa, Congress candidate Kumari Selja's strong standing benefited the party. In Sonipat, Satpal Brahmachari being the candidate helped gain votes in Jind district. And in Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, increased rural voting percentage aided Congress.
Possible Defeat in Karnal and Gurugram
The report indicates Congress may face defeat in the Karnal and Gurugram Lok Sabha constituencies. In Karnal, the Congress nominee is a new face against BJP's strong candidate former CM Manohar Lal Khattar. In Gurugram, actor Raj Babbar lacked support from the party leadership against BJP's Rao Inderjit Singh.
Close Contest in Ambala, Hisar and Faridabad
According to the report, there is a close contest between Congress and BJP in the Ambala, Hisar and Faridabad Lok Sabha seats. In Ambala, BJP's opposition in rural areas benefited Congress. But in Hisar, a strong INLD and JJP base hurt Congress prospects. In Faridabad too, the BJP candidate is seen as stronger.
The report cited anger among farmers that damaged the BJP's prospects. Additionally, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda had taken feedback from party MLAs on all 10 Lok Sabha seats, where increased rural voting percentage was seen favoring Congress.
