Sumit Kaushik, for THS, engages in a comprehensive discussion regarding electoral developments in Haryana, the priorities of the INC within the state, and touched upon aspects related to the upcoming assembly elections with the one of the team members of Deepender Singh Hooda. Views expressed are personal.
1. How strong is the Congress in Gurugram?
Congress candidate Raj Babbar is gaining widespread support from the people of Gurugram due to his progressive stance and pro-development vision. He is well-regarded for his ability to effectively manage the caste equation, addressing the diverse needs of the residents. His commitment to progress and development is exactly what Gurugram needs currently.
2. Everybody now says that Deepender Singh Hooda is the only credible choice of Congress Party in Haryana; what do you have to say?
Over the past 2-3 years, our progressive endeavors have garnered support from over 40 former MLAs and MPs, alongside 3 existing MLAs. Their trust and belief in our vision underscore our collective commitment to progress and development. In Haryana, the Leader of Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the party's State President, Udai Bhan, have consistently dedicated themselves to the welfare of the state.
3. How does INC counter BJP’s attack that Hoodas only did development in Rohtak area?
We have spearheaded extensive development across Haryana, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to the state. Key projects include the establishment of NIFT in Panchkula, NID in Kurukshetra, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station in Yamuna Nagar, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College in Karnal, Chaudhary Devi Lal University in Sirsa, Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Station in Hisar, and a medical college in Faridabad, among many other initiatives. These developments reflect our dedication to enhancing infrastructure and education in Haryana.
4. In forthcoming assembly polls would Deepender Singh Hooda like to project himself as CM candidate?
The Congress party is fundamentally democratic, and any decision in this regard will be made collaboratively and democratically. Our focus has never been on holding a strong position; instead, we are committed to a people-first approach to all our work.
5. What percentage of non-Jat votes do you believe are inclined towards the INC?
We are grateful for the extensive and wholehearted support we receive from our beloved people across all castes. Our list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections is a testament to this inclusivity, featuring a diverse array of candidates representing various castes throughout Haryana. This balanced representation underscores our firm dedication to diversity and inclusive governance.
6. Is Haryana politics still being decided by Delhi High command or the state unit has been given some independence?
As you know, Congress headquarters is in Delhi, and all key decisions are made there. However, because we believe in the principles of democracy, these decisions are made in consultation and coordination with the state leadership. Ultimately, it is a party decision, reflecting our collective commitment to democratic processes.
7. What was the rationale behind Divyanshu Budhiraja being given a ticket?
Former NSUI president Divyanshu Budhiraja epitomizes a young, hardworking, and passionate leader who has steadfastly served the party. With roots in a grounded family, he possesses a profound understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people of Haryana. In every regard, the INC has identified him as the ideal candidate to contest against Manohar Lal Khattar.
8. Does Chautala family hold any clout in the coming polls; both General elections and Assembly?
We do not perceive the people of our beloved Haryana as recognizing or appreciating Dushyant Chautala. According to us, his relevance and significance seem to be diminishing, even in the context of the upcoming assembly elections.
