In a blistering assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge did not mince words, calling the PM 'jhoothon ka sardar' (King of Liars) and accusing the ruling party of trying to end democracy. Addressing his first rally in Haryana's Jagadhri city, Kharge claimed that people are fed up with the BJP's lies and unfulfilled promises.

"There are a few people who say 'Modi, Modi'. He is a 'jhoothon ka sardar' (King of liars). Still, you say 'Modi Modi'. I do not want to abuse anyone, and I am not against Modi. But I am certainly against Modi's ideology and am fighting against it," Kharge said, taking aim at the Prime Minister.

The Congress chief alleged that the BJP wanted to end democracy and snatch away the Constitution. "You are snatching the Constitution, and we are fighting against it. You want to end democracy, and we are fighting for it," he said. He accused the ruling party of undermining the democratic principles enshrined in the country's founding document.

Kharge further claimed that the current fight is between the people and Modi, and the people and the BJP, asserting, "Because, people are fed up with them." He pointed out the unfulfilled promises made by the Prime Minister, including the transfer of Rs 15 lakh to everyone's bank account, the creation of 2 crore jobs every year, and the doubling of farmers' income.

"Is he a liar or a good person? What is wrong if I call such a prime minister 'jhoothon ka sardar'?" Kharge asked the gathering, justifying his strong remarks against Modi.

The Congress President also targeted the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the BJP, stating that the Congress is fighting against the Hindu right-wing organisation's ideology. "You are snatching the Constitution, and we are fighting against it. You want to end democracy, and we are fighting it," he reiterated.

Kharge's remarks came as the Congress intensified its campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming elections, positioning itself as the protector of democracy and the rights enshrined in the Constitution. The party has been accusing the BJP of failing to deliver on its promises and attempting to undermine constitutional values.

As the campaign trail heats up, both sides are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to sway voters, with the Congress aiming to capitalise on the perceived dissatisfaction with the BJP's governance and the ruling party seeking to highlight its achievements and vision for the future.
