The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), a regional party in Haryana, has announced its complete list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has chosen a mix of experienced politicians and new faces to contest across the state's 10 parliamentary constituencies. The JJP aims to challenge the ruling BJP's strength in these areas.
In its second list, the JJP has fielded Dr. Kiran Punia from Ambala against the BJP's Banto Kataria. Palaram Saini will contest from Kurukshetra, while Devender Kadiyan is the party's candidate from Karnal. Bhupender Malik will contest from Sonepat, and Ravinder Sangwan will run from Rohtak.
Earlier, in its first list, the JJP had named two-time MLA Naina Singh Chautala, wife of party chief Ajay Singh Chautala, as its candidate from Hisar against the BJP's Ranjit Singh Chautala, who is Ajay's uncle. Former MLA Ramesh Khatak will contest from Sirsa, and ex-MLA Rao Bahadur Singh will run from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh. The party has also fielded singer Rahul Yadav Fazilpuriya from Gurugram and youth leader Nalin Hooda from Faridabad to appeal to younger voters.
The JJP was formed in 2018 after a split in the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) due to a family feud. In 2019, it supported the BJP after the saffron party fell short of a majority in the assembly elections. However, the alliance ended last month, prompting the JJP to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana independently.
With its diverse set of candidates, the JJP hopes to leverage its regional influence and pose a strong challenge to the BJP's dominance in the state as the elections approach.
