10-Year-Old Indian Sensation Aradhana Singh Conquers the 2024 Australian Junior Open

The young talent overcomes top competitors to claim the prestigious junior title in Melbourne

In an amazing display of skill and calmness, 10-year-old Indian squash player Aradhana Singh emerged victorious at the 2024 Australian Junior Open presented by Squash Australia. The prestigious tournament, held from April 8th to 11th at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), attracted top junior players from around the world, but it was the young Indian star who rose to the challenge and captured the coveted title.

 Aradhana's path to glory was not an easy one, as she navigated a highly competitive field in the U11 category. The tournament featured players from across Australia and various international competitors, all hoping to be named the Australian Junior Open Champion.

Facing off against Sashana Istritharan of Malaysia in the final, Aradhana showcased her exceptional abilities and unwavering determination. She dominated the match, securing a convincing 3-0 victory with set scores of 11-4, 11-5, and 11-2, demonstrating her superior court coverage, tactical awareness, and sheer power.

The 2024 Australian Junior Open was a prestigious event, sanctioned by the World Squash Federation (WSF) as part of the AJST Platinum & WSF National Junior Open Divisions. The tournament featured categories for players in the U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age groups, both for male and female competitors. All players were required to wear WSF-approved eye-wear and have a valid WSF Spin Number. Australian players aged 13 and above also had to complete the mandatory SIA Courses, ensuring the integrity of the sport.

Aradhana's triumph not only adds another award to her growing list of achievements but also serves as a testament to the rising talent within the Indian squash community. Her victory at the Australian Junior Open is expected to further inspire young athletes in India and around the world, motivating them to pursue their dreams in the sport.
