Former Haryana MLA Rampal Majra rejoined the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and was appointed the party’s state unit chief. The move comes after the position was left vacant following the tragic killing of Nafe Singh Rathee in February.

Majra, who previously joined the BJP ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections but later quit during the farmers’ agitation against the farm laws, returned to the INLD. He was welcomed back by senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala and appointed as the state unit chief by party national president O P Chautala.

Expressing his commitment to the INLD, Majra highlighted his long association with the party dating back to the late Chaudhary Devi Lal. He criticised the BJP government in Haryana, citing concerns over transparency, job opportunities, and the handling of farmer issues.

Abhay Chautala acknowledged the party's decision to appoint Majra, emphasising the need to strengthen the party. He also commented on the current political landscape in Haryana, suggesting that there is resentment among some MLAs of the ruling party and its allies.

Regarding the recent change in Haryana's chief minister, Abhay Chautala highlighted the need for addressing law and order and farmer concerns, expressing dissatisfaction with the current government's performance.

Abhay Chautala also addressed his own candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Kurukshetra, asserting his longstanding association with the region despite criticism from opponents. He commented on the JJP's separation from the BJP, expressing doubts about their electoral prospects.

The appointment of Rampal Majra as the INLD's state unit chief marks a significant development in the party's leadership structure amidst ongoing political dynamics in Haryana. As the party prepares for the upcoming elections, its decision to fill the top post reflects its efforts to consolidate its position and address the challenges ahead.
