A purportedly illicit video featuring a BJP MP from Haryana has stirred a political uproar in the state, leading to allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. The controversy has escalated with arrests, FIRs, and accusations flying back and forth.

The video allegedly shows BJP's Sonipat MP Ramesh Kaushik in a compromising position with a woman. However, the authenticity of the video remains unverified. Amidst this, Haryana Police arrested two individuals, Sonu Malik and Dharmendra Malik, over a separate clip implicating Biplab Deb, a Rajya Sabha MP and former Tripura Chief Minister, in connection with the controversy.

A complaint filed by Arun Yadav, the social media head of BJP's Gurugram unit, led to an FIR being registered at Gurugram’s Cyber Crime Police Station. The complaint alleges that a 2.19-minute clip, broadcast on a YouTube news channel named ‘The Great Haryana’, attempts to link Biplab Deb to the controversy without his presence in the original video.

Reacting to the allegations, Ramesh Kaushik dismissed them as a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation. The BJP, on the other hand, has accused individuals associated with "Team Deepender," referring to Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda, son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, of orchestrating the controversy.

Jawahar Yadav, chief spokesperson of the Haryana BJP, condemned the attempt to drag Biplab Deb into the controversy, stating, "To defame our prabhari ji (Biplab Deb), Team Deepender Hooda has tried to drag his name into a conspiracy." He emphasized that the original video dates back to October 2020, prior to Biplab Deb's appointment as Haryana in-charge.

In response, Bhupinder Singh Hooda dismissed the BJP's accusations as "ridiculous" and accused the party of resorting to dirty politics. He asserted confidence in the Congress's victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, claiming that the people of Haryana have decided to oust the BJP from the state.

As the controversy continues to unfold, political tensions rise in Haryana, with both the BJP and Congress engaging in a war of words amidst allegations of conspiracy and smear campaigns. The authenticity of the alleged video and the motivations behind its circulation remain subjects of investigation and speculation, adding further intrigue to the unfolding political drama.
