Haryana's State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Anurag Agarwal, unveiled plans to ensure transparency and fairness in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With over 1.99 crore eligible voters in the state, measures are in place to address code violations swiftly.
The introduction of the "cVigil" app empowers citizens to report violations through video and audio recordings. Action on complaints will be initiated within 100 minutes, ensuring timely responses to electoral misconduct.
In the previous Lok Sabha elections, Haryana witnessed a 70% turnout, with notable demographics including 11,028 voters aged over 100 and 41 voters over 120. Special arrangements will accommodate elderly voters, allowing them to choose between polling stations and home voting.
Key statistics reveal 3,65,504 voters in the 18-19 age group and 39,31,717 in the 20-29 age group. To facilitate voting, 19,812 polling stations, comprising 6,224 urban and 13,588 rural stations, have been designated. Among these, 2,289 are deemed vulnerable and 63 critical, warranting heightened security measures.
Each polling station will accommodate approximately 1,000 voters, ensuring efficient voting processes. The deployment of 15 companies of Central Armed Police Forces is underway, with an additional 200 companies requested to bolster security arrangements.
The election schedule stipulates April 29 for issuing notifications, May 6 for filing nominations, and May 7 for scrutiny. Candidates can withdraw nominations until May 9, with voting scheduled for May 25 and counting on June 4, concluding before June 6.
For recruitment processes by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and the Haryana Public Service Commission, a committee led by the Chief Secretary will convene bi-weekly to provide recommendations. Immediate appointments during the election period will require permission from the Election Commission.
As preparations intensify, emphasis is placed on upholding democratic principles and ensuring every eligible voter can exercise their franchise freely. With robust measures in place and the introduction of technological solutions like the cVigil app, Haryana is poised for a fair and transparent electoral process in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
