Former Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij has extended his support to the 'One Nation-One Election' proposal, hailing it as a solution to significant challenges. Speaking to reporters at his residence on Friday, Vij stated about the necessity of relieving the country from the perpetual election cycle, which often resulted in wastage of time and resources.

"This was a significant hurdle, which needed to be overcome to free the country. Elections continued throughout the year. Sometimes someone was contesting, and sometimes someone else. The Model Code of Conduct would be enforced, and work would stall for months, incurring significant expenses," remarked Vij.

Taking a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal, Vij criticised the Delhi Chief Minister's remarks on the proposal, suggesting that positive initiatives faced opposition from Kejriwal due to his vested interests. "No matter how good the work is, he (Kejriwal) always opposes it," Vij commented, adding that Kejriwal's reactions acted as a litmus test for the effectiveness of policies.

Notably, today marks Anil Vij's 71st birthday, celebrated by well-wishers gathering at his residence in Ambala Cantt's Shastri Colony. Wrestler The Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana) and singer Kanhaiya Mittal joined in to extend their regards. Supporters organised a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the occasion.

It's worth mentioning that a month ago, The Great Khali had met with Anil Vij at T-Point in Ambala Cantt Sadar Bazar Chowk. During their interaction, they engaged in discussions on various topics, resonating with Vij's style of engaging with constituents and followers through social media platforms.

Anil Vij's outspoken support for the 'One Nation-One Election' initiative adds to the ongoing discourse surrounding electoral reforms in India, with proponents advocating for streamlining the electoral process to enhance governance efficiency and minimise disruptions.
