Manohar Lal's Emotional Farewell to Haryana Vidhan Sabha

Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal bid an emotional farewell to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha as he announced his resignation from both his legislative seat and his role as Chief Minister. Recalling his journey representing Karnal with record margins, Khattar choked with emotion, emphasizing his dedication to serving the people of Haryana. He stated, "Maine Haryana ke logon ki seva karne mein hamesha prathamikata di hai aur takneeki sudharon se yukt pranali ko behtar banane ka pryas kiya hai." (I have always prioritised serving the people of Haryana and have strived to improve the system with technological advancements). 

Succession Plan: Handing Over the Reins to Nayab Singh Saini

In a move reflective of the BJP's succession plan, Manohar Lal entrusted the responsibility of his constituency to Nayab Singh Saini, the newly appointed Chief Minister. Emphasizing the continuity of governance, Khattar assured the people of Karnal that the "CM City tag" would remain with their constituency. He stated, "Mai vidhan sabha ke seat se istifa deta hu. Aaj se mukhyamantri karnal vidhan sabha kshetra ka dekh bhal karenge." (I resign from the legislative assembly seat. From today, the Chief Minister will oversee the Karnal legislative assembly constituency).  

It is interesting to note that this transition which may seem surprising to many is well in line with former CM Manohar Lal's plan. If given a choice between anyone else and Nayab Singh Saini; Manohar Lal would naturally choose the latter. Nayab enjoys Manohar Lal's trust. In fact, most of Nayab's elevation owes to former CM Manohar Lal. Hence, when the time came to pass the baton; it was logical for Manohar Lal had been mentoring Nayab along the way.

National Aspirations: Lok Sabha Candidacy and BJP's Trust 

With the central election committee of the BJP clearing his name for the Karnal Lok Sabha seat, Khattar's resignation marks a shift towards national politics. His nomination for the Lok Sabha seat signifies the party's trust in his leadership and his potential for a larger role at the national level. The former Chief Minister expressed his gratitude, stating, "BJP ki taraf se mujhe Karnal se lok sabha chunav mein prastut karne ke liye badhai aur shubhkamnaye." (Congratulations and best wishes to me from the BJP to contest in the Lok Sabha elections from Karnal).

Legacy of Governance: Acknowledging Achievements and Initiatives 

Throughout his tenure, Khattar focused on transparency and good governance, implementing initiatives aimed at improving the system. He highlighted the BJP government's emphasis on serving the people rather than enjoying power. Reflecting on his political journey, Manohar Lal stated, "Humne satta ka upyog nahi kiya, balki seva ka sadhan banaya." (We did not use power, but made it a means of service). He emphasised his commitment to continue serving the people of Haryana.

Transition to Lok Sabha Candidacy

As Manohar Lal steps down from his role as Haryana Chief Minister and resigns from the Karnal Vidhan Sabha seat, his journey converges towards national politics. Yesterday evening, the BJP released its second list of candidates for six Lok Sabha seats in Haryana for the upcoming general elections. Manohar Lal Khattar has been nominated for the Karnal seat in the Lok Sabha. With a proud legacy of governance behind him, Manohar Lal's next steps in his political career will be closely watched by both supporters and observers alike.
