A wanted gangster, Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu, has emerged as a prime suspect in the murder of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Haryana unit chief Nafe Singh Rathee, shedding light on his extensive criminal history and alleged involvement in a web of violent feuds.

Sangwan, 32, hailing from Delhi's Najafgarh area, is wanted in 18 cases, including MCOCA, murder, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, and arms offences across Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, as per a dossier prepared by the Delhi Police. His notorious reputation has earned him a reward of Rs 2 lakh for his arrest by the Delhi Police.

The heinous attack that claimed the lives of Rathee and INLD worker Jai Kishan in Jhajjar's Bahadurgarh has intensified the spotlight on Sangwan, particularly after a purported social media post attributed to him claimed responsibility for the killings. The post alleged that Rathee's close association with Sangwan's rival gangster, Manjeet Mahal, led to the deadly attack.

Sangwan's criminal trajectory traces back to a familial feud with Mahal, stemming from the alleged killing of Sangwan's brother-in-law in 2015. Seeking vengeance, Sangwan orchestrated a series of retaliatory attacks, culminating in the murder of Nafe Singh alias 'Mantri', a Mahal associate, on instructions from his elder brother, Jyoti Prakash alias Baba, who is currently incarcerated.

The Sangwan brothers, notorious figures in the underworld, have a history of affiliations with liquor barons in Rajasthan and Gujarat, further complicating the dynamics of their criminal enterprise. Sangwan's criminal portfolio reflects a pattern of violence and extortion, with his gang reportedly involved in numerous cases of contract killings and organised crime.

Despite being arrested previously by Rajasthan Police and booked under MCOCA by Delhi Police Special Cell, Sangwan managed to evade authorities, fleeing to the United Kingdom via Dubai after procuring a fake passport. His escape underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in curbing transnational criminal activities.

As investigations into Rathee's murder intensify, Sangwan's prominence as a key suspect illuminates the intricate interplay between organised crime, gang rivalries, and personal vendettas in Haryana's criminal landscape. The hunt for Sangwan continues as authorities grapple with dismantling his far-reaching criminal network.
