Warning! Are You Uploading Ghibli Style Photos on Social Media?

A new trend of Ghibli Style photos has taken social media by storm. Known as Ghibli Style AI images, people are uploading their personal photos to platforms like ChatGPT and other services to transform them into Ghibli animation-style pictures.

This trend has gained popularity among both celebrities and ordinary people. However, cyber security experts warn that it could pose a significant threat to your privacy.

Privacy concerns with AI platforms

According to cyber experts, companies like OpenAI may use these uploaded photos for AI training purposes. More concerning is that without your consent, these images could reach cybercriminals through data brokers. 

"Cyber criminals can misuse your photos to blackmail you," warned Sirsa Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan. "As technology evolves, cyber criminals are adopting new methods of fraud. You can protect yourself from AI scams by staying vigilant."

Evolution of cyber fraud tactics 

SP Bhushan explained that while scammers previously relied on sending fraudulent links or creating fake websites for online fraud, they are now utilizing AI technology for more sophisticated attacks. 

"Through artificial intelligence technology, cyber criminals are copying people's voices to commit cyber fraud," he said. "They're even creating fake videos using your photos to blackmail and demand money."

While artificial intelligence technology has made life easier in many ways, it has also increased the problem of fraud. Several cases of deepfake videos of prominent people created through artificial intelligence have already come to light.

Taking precautions

Experts advise users to be cautious about which platforms they upload their personal photos to and to read privacy policies carefully. They recommend avoiding uploading clear facial images to AI image generators and using services that have clear data protection policies.

The growing popularity of AI-generated content makes it increasingly important for users to understand the potential risks associated with sharing personal images online, especially when using third-party AI tools.
