A medical student's life is supposed to be about learning to save lives, not saving your professor a trip to the liquor store. But that's exactly what happened to Dr. Jishnu Mohan, a third-year postgraduate at PGI Rohtak, according to a complaint that's shaken the medical education community in Haryana.
Dr. Mohan, who came all the way from South India on an All India merit seat, says his education turned into a nightmare thanks to his supervisor, Dr. Ravinder Solanki. The complaint describes being physically attacked when he refused to hand over his personal phone, with a chair thrown at him during the assault.
"Get My Lassi, Drive My Wife" - Student Forced to Be Personal Help
The abuse wasn't just physical. "He ordered me to take his wife for post-natal check-ups during college hours," writes Dr. Mohan in his complaint. Instead of learning surgical techniques, he was dropping the professor's kids at playschool and playing chauffeur to family members.
Dr. Mohan in his complaint revealed that he was frequently asked to buy liquor for his professor and he has shared WhatsApp chats as evidence on the same.
The student shared audio recordings where the professor can be heard demanding personal errands and using abusive language - evidence that backs up his written claims.
"No One Can Touch Me" - Political Connections Used as Threats
What makes this case particularly disturbing is how Dr. Solanki reportedly used his connections as weapons.
The Professor repeatedly revelaed and bragged about his political connections and police contacts and even links with local gangsters which made him untouchable. He allegedly claimed he controlled SC votes in the region and had filed cases against senior faculty members who tried to discipline him.
This intimidation was so severe that Dr. Mohan mentions having suicidal thoughts out of helplessness.
Not The first Time- Pattern of Harassment Revealed
This isn't even the first time Dr. Solanki has been accused of harassment. The complaint mentions Capt. Dr. Deepthi Chikkara, a female Army officer and former student, who previously filed similar complaints.
Dr. Mohan also alleges the professor made sexist comments about female students and colleagues, showing a disturbing pattern of behavior that goes beyond a single incident.
Dr. Mohan has forwarded the complaint to multiple authorities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The Chief Minister of Haryana and local police. He is demanding justice, immediate action and police protection for himself and mental health support for him and other students who face similar type of situations.
This particular case raises serious question about the faculty accountability and the safety of the medical students who travel far from their houses for education.
Will PGI Rohtak take action this time, or will another complaint be added to the pile? The academic future and mental health of the country's next generation of doctors may depend on the answer.
