Punjab Farmers Prepare for Prolonged Protest in Delhi: Tractors Laden with Supplies

 As tensions simmer over the impasse on Monday evening following inconclusive talks with Union ministers, Punjab farmers resolved to embark on their journey to Delhi, demanding legal assurances for Minimum Support Price (MSP) among other grievances. Laden with ration, utensils, and makeshift bathrooms, convoys of tractor trolleys commenced their march from Fatehgarh Sahib towards Delhi via the Shambhu border.

The procession, composed of individuals spanning generations, including elderly, youth, and women, conveyed the diversity and determination within the farmer community. Security personnel stationed along the Haryana side of the border cautioned youths approaching the barricades near the Shambhu border, underscoring the heightened security measures implemented to deter the protest. 

Over 1,100 tractors, adorned with provisions ranging from firewood to fans, symbolised the farmers' preparedness for an extended demonstration in the nation's capital. Authorities in Haryana fortified the state's borders with concrete blocks, iron nails, and barbed wire to impede the farmers' advance, reflecting the escalating tensions surrounding the protest.

In anticipation of potential unrest, riot control vehicles, including water cannons, were strategically stationed at various points along the Punjab and Haryana borders. Surveillance was further bolstered through the use of drones, with 64 paramilitary companies and 50 Haryana Police units deployed across districts to maintain order. 

Meanwhile, in Delhi, security measures were intensified with multi-layer barricades, concrete barriers, and walls of containers erected at border points. The elaborate security arrangements underscored the government's apprehension regarding the magnitude and duration of the farmers' protest.

As the farmers braced themselves for a prolonged standoff, their meticulously organized convoy symbolized their resolve to press for their demands. With their tractors laden with supplies and determination, the farmers embarked on a journey that underscored their unwavering commitment to securing their rights and livelihoods.
