In a surprising political development, former Haryana Congress President Ashok Tanwar has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking his fourth switch of political allegiance in the past five years. Tanwar expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "transformational leadership" as the driving force behind his decision.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Tanwar officially joined the BJP at the party's headquarters in New Delhi. Khattar, referring to Tanwar as his nephew, highlighted the significance of Tanwar's induction for the BJP's expansion plans in Haryana. Khattar stated, "Ashok’s mother and I come from the same village. By that logic, he is my nephew," emphasizing the familial connection.

The Chief Minister also recalled past incidents of alleged mistreatment of Tanwar within the Congress party, claiming that Tanwar had been assaulted by Congress workers during a clash in 2016. This clash had occurred between Tanwar and supporters of former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, resulting in injuries to Tanwar.

Expressing his enthusiasm for joining the BJP on the eve of the Ram Temple inauguration, Tanwar praised Modi for transforming the country over the past decade. According to Tanwar, Modi's leadership has unified the nation, improved the lives of the poor, and elevated India's global stature. Tanwar went on to predict a bright future for India, stating, "By 2047, India will be at the zenith of its glory. We will work to ensure we break all records in the Lok Sabha poll, and the BJP crosses the 400-seat mark."

Later in the day, Tanwar met with BJP Chief JP Nadda to discuss his entry into the party. This political move by Ashok Tanwar, accompanied by his praise for PM Modi's leadership, has added an intriguing dimension to the political landscape in Haryana, while also shedding light on the complexities of party affiliations and alliances in the Indian political arena.
