Recruitment Alert: Indian Army Seeks Young Athletes for Army Boys Sports Company

The Haryana government has released detailed information about recruitment in the Army Boys Sports Company at the Madras Engineering Group and Centre in Bengaluru. The recruitment is open for athletes in the age group of 8 to 14 participating in boxing, hockey, rowing, and swimming. The deadline for applications is from February 5th to February 8th, 2024.

There will be trials for two age groups. In the first category, athletes should be between the ages of February 5, 2010, and February 5, 2016, and must have completed at least the third grade. In the second category, athletes should be between the ages of February 5, 2008, and February 4, 2010, and must have completed at least the eighth grade, along with having won medals in national and international sports competitions.

Specific physical height and weight criteria have been set for each age group. Additionally, candidates will need to undergo a medical examination at a military hospital. Tattoos are not allowed on any part of the athlete's body.

Minimum physical height and weight criteria for age groups:

  1. Age 8: 134 cm, 29 kg
  2. Age 9: 139 cm, 31 kg
  3. Age 10: 143 cm, 34 kg
  4. Age 11: 150 cm, 37 kg
  5. Age 12: 153 cm, 40 kg
  6. Age 13: 155 cm, 42 kg
  7. Age 14: 160 cm, 47 kg

This recruitment aims to train emerging athletes in the younger age group and prepare them for international sports competitions. The Indian Army and the Indian Army Boys Sports Company have signed a memorandum of understanding for this purpose, focusing on grooming young talents and providing them opportunities in international sports competitions. Medical examinations will be conducted at military hospitals, and candidates who successfully complete the selection process will be recruited into the Indian Army as Agniveer.
