PM Modi and Donald Trump Share Warm Exchange at G7 Summit in France

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump shared a brief but cordial interaction on Tuesday during the G7 Summit in Evian, France, drawing attention as world leaders gathered for the high-level meeting.

Visuals from the summit showed the two leaders greeting each other warmly after the traditional family photograph. Trump was seen shaking hands with Prime Minister Modi and patting him on the arm in a gesture that reflected the friendly rapport the two leaders have built over the years. 

The interaction took place ahead of the G7 outreach session, where invited nations joined member countries for discussions on key global issues. During the session, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump were also seated next to each other.

Earlier in the day, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Prime Minister Modi at the summit venue before the customary family photograph featuring G7 leaders and invited guests.

The official group photo included several prominent global leaders, among them European Council President Antonio Costa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Although no formal bilateral meeting was announced during the brief interaction, the visuals quickly gained attention as they highlighted the continued engagement between New Delhi and Washington on the sidelines of one of the world's most significant diplomatic gatherings.

The G7 Summit continues to serve as a key platform for discussions on global economic challenges, geopolitical developments and international cooperation.
