A serious incident of negligence occurred at Government Primary School in Nooni Kalan village, Narnaul district, where a six-year-old Class 1 student named Kamal was accidentally locked inside the school building after staff failed to follow proper safety procedures. The incident happened when Kamal fell asleep at his desk during regular school hours.
When classes ended at 2 PM, school staff dismissed students without conducting thorough checks of all classrooms. The cleaning staff then locked all rooms and gates without ensuring the premises were completely empty. A passing villager discovered the situation when he heard the child's distressed cries from inside the locked building.
The alert villager immediately climbed the school wall and provided water to the trapped student through a classroom window while calling for help. Police officials, the village sarpanch, and Kamal's family were quickly notified. School staff were summoned to unlock the facility, and the child was safely released and returned to his parents, who are migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh.
The incident sparked significant community anger, with parents and villagers strongly criticizing the school administration for gross negligence. A village panchayat meeting was held to address the matter formally.
Head Master Somdatt acknowledged the administrative failure, explaining that the child's prolonged sleep caused the oversight. He confirmed that Kamal suffered no physical harm during the incident. During the community meeting, school staff issued public apologies and promised to implement comprehensive safety checks during future dismissals.
The sarpanch delivered formal warnings to all staff members, emphasizing zero tolerance for such negligence. This incident highlights critical gaps in school safety protocols and the urgent need for mandatory roll-call procedures during dismissal to ensure student welfare.
