Haryana Gets Its Official State Song as "Jai-Jai-Jai Haryana" Echoes in Assembly

State anthem approved unanimously, celebrating Haryana's glorious history, cultural heritage and development journey

Assembly standing in respect of State Song

Haryana has officially adopted its first-ever state song, with the legislative assembly unanimously approving "Jai-Jai-Jai Haryana" on Friday. The historic decision came after Laxman Singh Yadav, chairperson of the Haryana State Song Selection Committee, presented the committee's recommendation to the House.

The song was played in the assembly, receiving appreciation from both ruling and opposition members. Speaker Harvinder Kalyan congratulated all residents of the state and announced the formation of a committee to establish standards for the song's performance.

Thoughtful Selection Process

While presenting the committee's report, Laxman Singh Yadav explained the thorough process behind selecting the state anthem. "After in-depth deliberations on all submitted songs, the committee selected this composition," Yadav said.

The committee evaluated each entry based on how well it represented Haryana's:

  • Glorious history
  • Cultural heritage
  • Geographical structure
  • Development journey

"We examined the songs on various musical parameters including meaning, emotion, and rhythm," Yadav explained. "We also assessed how each song would create a positive atmosphere and its utility both within and outside the state."

Balanced Linguistic Approach

The committee paid special attention to making the song accessible to Haryanvi speakers while ensuring it would be effective on national and international platforms.

"The song incorporates a balanced, logical and harmonious use of Sanskrit from the Vedic period, Hindi, and contemporary Haryanvi dialect," said Yadav. "Sanskrit portions capture the state's hospitality and service-oriented culture."

Celebrating Haryanvi Identity

The state anthem highlights the festive culture of Haryana and the simplicity of its people. It specifically mentions the brotherhood among residents, education, and commerce.

"The song poetically captures Haryanvi folk life while highlighting the contributions of farmers, brave soldiers, and athletes who bring pride to the state," Yadav added. "We believe this song will strengthen the state's cultural heritage and reinforce the sense of national pride present in every corner of Haryana."

Creative Team Behind the Anthem

The recommended song was written by Dr. Bal Kishan Sharma, sung by Dr. Shyam Sharma, composed by Paras Chopra, and directed by Malvika Pandit. Folk artist and Padma Shri recipient Mahavir Singh Guddu participated in committee meetings as a subject expert.

The Haryana State Song Selection Committee was chaired by MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, with members including MLAs Geeta Bhukkal, Vinod Bhyana, Balwan Singh Daulatpuria, and Aditya Devilal. MLAs Jogi Ram Sihag, Neeraj Sharma, and Bishambar Singh were members during the 14th Legislative Assembly.
