International boxer Saweety Boora, her father Mahendra Singh, and her uncle Satyawan were detained at Sadar Police Station in Hisar on Friday. They were released only after producing bail documents.
Sadar Police Station in-charge Ishwar Singh said the three were called in for questioning related to an assault case. The police plan to submit a chargesheet to the court within 3-4 days.
Fight at Women's Police Station
The case stems from an incident on March 15 when Saweety Boora allegedly assaulted her husband Deepak Hooda at the Women's Police Station in Hisar. Both parties had been summoned for questioning in a previously filed case.
During this meeting, the couple got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Hooda later went to the Civil Hospital Hisar for treatment and filed a complaint afterward.
Evidence Collected
Police have gathered evidence including CCTV footage from the Women's Police Station where the assault allegedly took place. The incident occurred in front of Women's Police Station in-charge Seema. Female police officers who witnessed the incident will serve as witnesses in the case.
Multiple Cases Between the Couple
Saweety Boora and Deepak Hooda, who married in 2022, have filed multiple cases against each other in Hisar and Rohtak. Their relationship reportedly deteriorated after the assembly elections.
About 22 days ago, Boora filed an FIR against Hooda in Hisar, accusing him of dowry harassment despite receiving one crore rupees and a Fortuner vehicle in the marriage. She alleged that he physically abused her.
Hooda countered by filing a complaint in Rohtak, accusing Boora and her family of attempting to seize his property and threatening his life. He claimed that Boora had attacked him with a knife and injured his head while he was sleeping.
Both Saweety Boora and Deepak Hooda are currently BJP members. Hooda contested and lost the previous assembly election from Mahm constituency, while Boora was not given a party ticket.
