Haryana's Initiative to Consolidate Schools: Shifting Students for Enhanced Education Opportunities

Haryana has initiated a significant move to consolidate schools with less than 20 students. Students from these schools are set to be shifted to nearby government schools. The government plans to provide transportation facilities for these students, emphasising the optimization of resources for a more effective education system.

The state's Education Department had sought information about such schools months ago, identifying 832 primary schools with fewer than 20 students. Although subsequent updates to the Management Information System (MIS) reduced the number, the consolidation plan aims to streamline the resources.

Shifting Students and Transport Facilities:

The government has prepared a list of 7,349 students who will be relocated to nearby government schools. In a proactive step, the government assures transportation facilities for the students, addressing concerns about the commute between the existing and new schools.

Concerns and Individual Cases:

Despite the streamlined approach, there are concerns about the distance between some existing and new schools exceeding one kilometre. The authorities are deliberating on how to address this issue, considering options to provide adequate transportation facilities for students in such cases.

However, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar have responded by announcing dedicated transport facilities for students affected by the consolidation, emphasizing a commitment to their educational well-being.

Special Buses for School Children:

In response to demands from school children, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar initiated a special bus service two months ago, connecting Rattangarh to Prem Nagar. This move received appreciation from the public and school children, with chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" echoing during the inauguration of the bus service.
