Know Your Minister: Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma- A Dental Surgeon's Journey to Haryana Cabinet

Dr. Sharma's journey began in a traditional Haryanvi family on November 25, 1962 in village M.P. Majra in Jhajjar district. Dr. Sharma's father Satguru Dass sharma and mother Bimla devi knowing the importance of education made him pursue dentistry. Dr. Arvind Sharma is a qualified dental surgeon as he completed his BDS from MDU Rohtak in 1986 and MDS from Gujarat University in 1991.

Professional to Political Transition

Dr. Arvind Shmara's political journey began in 1996 when he emerged victorious in his first election as an independent candidate from Sonipat Lok Sabha constituency. In this election he defeated well known politicians including BJP-HVP 's Ch. Abhayram Dahiya. This unexpected victory laid a significant political path for Dr. Sharma that would span multiple parties and positions. 

Milestones of Dr. Sharma's Political Journey:

• Served as Independent MP from Sonipat (1996)  
• Won two consecutive terms from Karnal as Congress MP (2004-2014)
• Became BSP's chief ministerial candidate in 2014
• Secured victory from Rohtak on BJP ticket in 2019 shockingly defeating Congress MP Deepender Hooda
• Emerged victorious in 2024 Haryana Assembly elections from Gohana constituency and serves as a cabinet minister of Co-operation, Jails, Elections, Heritage and Tourism in Nayab Saini government.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sharma has held numerous significant positions that showcase his versatility such as Member of the Central Council of Health & Family Welfare,  participated in Railways Committees , served on the Standing Committee on HRD, Chaired "Sahyog," an NGO focused on helping cancer patients and underprivileged citizens, also contributed to the Committee on Public Undertakings and he is currently an active member of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
