Singer Dhruv Balyan

Dhruv Balyan, a talented singer from the Haryanvi music industry, has been making waves with his melodious and romantic songs. Born and brought up in Rohtak city, Dhruv originally hails from Malana village in Sonipat. He comes from a well-educated family, with his father, Sushil Balyan, being a retired principal from CR Polytechnic College, and his mother, an IT professor at the same college. Dhruv's brother is a chemical engineer who studied from IIT Delhi and is currently serving in the Haryana Civil Services.

Early Life and Education

Dhruv himself is a civil engineer, having studied from Model School, Rohtak and later pursuing a diploma and degree in civil engineering from DCRUST in Murthal, Sonipat. Apart from his academic pursuits, Dhruv has a passion for sports, particularly badminton. He has played at the state and national levels and continues to follow the sport.

Musical Journey

Music has always been an interest for Dhruv, who learned to play the harmonium for a few months. He can also play the ukulele. Dhruv's interest in music was sparked by listening to Honey Singh, and he would often sing rap songs in school, earning praise from his friends. With his soulful voice and versatile singing style, Dhruv Balyan is definitely a rising star to watch out for in the Haryanvi music industry.

Dhruv's passion for singing has been a constant companion throughout his life. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he started working on his own music in India before moving to Canada. Initially he used to upload covers of other singers on his Instagram account.

Dhruv's musical journey gained momentum during his college days when he joined college band "Goonj". This experience provided him with multicultural exposure, as he met fellow students from different parts of the country who were involved in various fields of music. After completing his engineering degree in 2021, Dhruv continued to pursue music while preparing for his IELTS exam to move to Canada. 

Dhruv's journey to success was not without its challenges. Before moving to Canada, he worked as a Business Development Associate (BDA) for 15 days, but soon realized that it wasn't his true calling. Instead, he focused on his music, releasing his first audio track in 2021. He also shot video for his song "Dasmi Fail" before leaving for Canada. In India, Dhruv worked with different labels and connections, which played a significant role in his early success. He created several music videos, shooting in various locations across India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, and Rohtak.

Family Support Played a Huge Role

Dhruv's family, although initially keen on him becoming a junior engineer, was supportive of his musical endeavors. They encouraged him to have a safer career option, but also appreciated his passion for music. Dhruv describes himself as a conscious person who wants to know everything related to music. He is drawn to learning and gaining knowledge about music and the music industry.

Life in Canada

After moving to Canada, he balanced his college life with a part-time job, working hard to earn money. Interestingly, Dhruv didn't just work for survival; he worked to invest in his music. He has held various part-time jobs, including working as a security guard in grocery stores, clubs, and banks.

Dhruv's experience working as a security guard was particularly noteworthy. He would utilize his downtime to create songs in his mind, always thinking about his music. Today, Dhruv earns enough from his music to sustain himself, but he continues to work part-time to invest in his craft.

Favourites and Inspirations

Dhruv's musical influences include Charlie Puth, Justin Bieber, and Yo Yo Honey Singh. He believes in creating unique and original content, rather than copying others. He also praised Dhanda Nyoliwala for his contributions to the Haryanvi music industry. Dhruv shared some of his favourite tracks, including his own song "Paradise". He also mentioned Rajender Kharkiya as one of his favourite artists. His favourite tracks include "Zaalima" and "Brownie". Dhruv also shared three favourite tracks: "Bholenath" by Kaka, "Intentions" by Justin Bieber, and "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" by Kishore Kumar.

Dhruv is optimistic about the growth of the Haryanvi music industry, noting that there are now many talented artists working in different genres. He aims to take Haryanvi music to the next level by getting his songs featured in Bollywood movies.

Dhruv's message to the youth is to love their language, culture, and do what they love with hard work and dedication. He emphasized the importance of respecting one's culture and not demeaning it. Dhruv also encouraged young artists to write meaningful songs that give a good message to society. With his soulful voice and dedication to his craft, Dhruv Balyan is sure to make a significant impact on the music industry.
