In a shocking turn of events, two Bollywood actors, Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath have been mentioned in the FIR filed in Sonipat distruct of Haryana. The FIR mentions their involvemnet in a massive financial fraud by the Human Welfare Credit Cooperative Society, registered in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The Cooperative Society is accused of luring 50,000 investors across multiple states.
Invited Bollywood Stars as Chief Guests
To build authenticity, the society used different techniques like organising lavish events in expensive hotels and inviting bollywood celebrities as chief guests. It established over 250 service centres across Haryana and also launched mobile ATM services to appear legitimate.
The Cooperative society was operating from 2016 to 2023 and lured investors with promises of fixed deposits and recurring deposits and promised to provide extraotrdinary returns. The society used sophisticated marketing strategies and created a vast network of agents who were given incentives to bring in more investors.
The society initially paid returns to the investors and created a illusion of a legitimate investment opportunity. The involvement of celebrities like Shreyas Talpade, who was hired to promote the society, and Sonu Sood, who appeared as a chief guest at one of their events, added a layer of credibility to their operations.
Exposed in 2023
In the year 2023, the society stopped paying interests to the agents and delayed maturity payments and gradually closed their 250 offices in Haryana. When investors demanded their money, company officials became unreachable, and all contact methods were severed. FIR has been registeres against 13 people which includes two actors under specific sections of the cooperative society act. High Court is going to hear the case on January 25th and the officials will be required to explain how they plan to return investors's money.
